An automation runs a series of steps when its trigger occurs. Decide on a specific outcome before opening the builder: what starts the workflow, what information it needs, and what should happen at the end.
Create a workflow
Open Automations → New automation. Give it a clear name, then add the trigger and the actions needed for the task. Connect the steps in the order they should run.
- 1Create a workflow.
- 2Return here to manage workflows.
Configure each step
Open a step’s settings and complete its required fields. Select the correct integration connection where requested. Map data from an earlier step to the field that needs it; for example, use a customer’s phone value for a recipient field.
Add conditions when only some events should continue. Review both outcomes of a condition so unmatched events do not accidentally take the wrong path.
Test with a small example
Use the available test or preview controls and inspect each step’s output. Some actions can contact external services or send messages, so use a test recipient and test records you control.
Correct missing fields and failed connections before activation. Saving a draft is different from publishing and enabling it for incoming events.
Activate and inspect runs
Publish or activate the ready workflow using the editor’s controls. After a test event, open Executions and inspect its status and steps. Start with the first failed step, since later steps may not have run.
If a workflow produces unexpected results, deactivate it while you review the configuration. Fix the cause before repeating an event that could send another message or create another record.
