Create and use message templates

Prepare a WhatsApp template, follow its approval status, and fill its variables.

Jump to a section

A template is a reusable WhatsApp message with a reviewed structure. Use templates when the composer requires them, for campaigns, and for store notifications. A saved draft is not an approved template.

Open your templates

Open the WhatsApp inbox, then its Templates area. Confirm you are working with the number that will send the message. Templates available for a different sender may not be available here.

Prepare the message

  1. Start a new template and choose its name, language, and category.
  2. Write a clear body. Add the header, footer, or buttons you need.
  3. Add variables only where a value changes, such as a customer name or order number. Provide the requested examples.
  4. Review the preview, then submit the template for review.

Choose the category that matches the message’s purpose. For example, a promotion and an order update are different uses. Follow the instructions shown by Meta if a template needs changes.

Wait for approval

Refresh or sync the template list and check its status. Pending or rejected templates are not ready for sending. If rejected, review the reason, correct the content, and submit again as the interface allows.

Fill the variables

When choosing the template in a campaign or notification, match each variable to the intended contact or event field. Check the preview with a realistic sample. A missing customer name should not accidentally display an order number.

Test with your own number before using it broadly. Continue to create a campaign or Salla notifications.
